Wrongful Death Alleged in Suicide

July 23, 2009

A claim for medical negligence resulting in the death of a Spokane man from self inflicted suicide was filed today, claiming that the medical treatment and accomodations provided to this known actively suicidal man were inadequate and negligent, and forseeably and predictably resulted in his self inflicted death. The family claims that the very reason an ambulance transported their husband/father to Sacred Heart Medical Center and admitted him voluntarily to the ward at that hospital was because they were assured that he would be monitored and supervised properly to ensure that he would not further attempt to harm himself.

The suit claims that Jake Greene was not properly monitored as promised and that the hospital further ignored the wife's calls the following morning to the nursing staff urging caution--telling them that her husband had called her from the ward and was agitated. Her husband was thereafter found dead from self inflicted strangulation.
